    The Positivity Thread

Hi everyone! I've had tinnitus for 7-8 months and I think it is almost gone. I can hear it sometimes during the day and night (I would say like 50% of time) and only if I look for it or am in quiet rooms. Sometimes I don't hear it even if I try to put my fingers into my ears. I'm writing this...

Hello! I have never slept with masking (tried, but made me very nervous). At the worst times I took alprazolam 0.25mg. I put lavender scent on the pillow so I could 'focus' on other sense. I also went to sleep later, to be more tired and try ‘not to sleep’ once in bed (its called 'paradoxical...

    The Positivity Thread

I just discovered this thread. wonderful. In May I started with tinnitus and although it went down and disappeared at times, a hard moment in June led me to an anxiety attack and to the emergency room. Worst moment of my life. I took Xanax for four weeks. Everything scared me, I was terrified of...

I am at a similar point. not habituated to T, but it bothers me less, maybe once or twice a day, and there are times when I think I don't have that whisper even if I look for it (I'm not sure). I guess it's a long process, but, hopefully, much better than in June. I know it may sound silly...

I'm Javier from Spain, Got Tinnitus Recently, No Hearing Loss, Not Sure What Triggered Mine

@Joe Cuber, if anxiety has caused your tinnitus, then therapy may help you (is helping me). To sleep, it helped me to put lavender essence on the pillow, so, in darkness and silence, I could focus on sense of smell.

I'm Javier from Spain, Got Tinnitus Recently, No Hearing Loss, Not Sure What Triggered Mine

Hi, Javier. I'm from Spain, too. Have you experienced an episode of stress or anxiety, or any episode that may have caused this even if you do not consider yourself to be anxious? I ask you because it can be a cause to take into account.

My Tinnitus Started While Having the Flu — Maybe Related to Jaw/Neck/Dental Issues

So lucky! Last one (I've seen two ENTs before this one) just said 'maybe it is your jaw, so tense... deal with it'. No treatments, no tests, no talk at all... no empathy. This one gave me hope (but was realistic, he said tinnitus may go away, but may not; and if it resolves, we never know when...

My Tinnitus Started While Having the Flu — Maybe Related to Jaw/Neck/Dental Issues

I started with tinnitus on April 30th. The sound was getting softer, at times I heard silence (sometimes beeps, less and less beep and more hiss). The general evolution was so good... I was happy and optimistic. But on June 8 I had an anxiety crisis, the sound became very loud... I went to the...

My Experience with Eustachian Tube Blockage/ETD Related Tinnitus — It Gets Better

I've started with Nasonex because of the pressure feeling and the pop I can hear in my ears. I hope it helps. I'll let you know!

My Tinnitus Started While Having the Flu — Maybe Related to Jaw/Neck/Dental Issues

Sorry @beetjuice, I haven't read your post. What I do: SCM stretch. Neck stretch. Nape stretch. Another stretching using the tongue: stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth (just a little) and slightly open your mouth. You can notice the stretch in the neck or under the tongue. Jaw...

Can Sleeping with Earplugs Make Tinnitus Worse? Are Wax or Foam Earplugs Better for Sleeping?

Thank you. Those are foam earplugs. My doctor once told me they were better than wax earplugs. I also know there are silicon ones, but my ears are really tiny so I can't use those. Which ones would you recommend? About altered pressure, I have a constant pressure feeling in that ear. My...

Can Sleeping with Earplugs Make Tinnitus Worse? Are Wax or Foam Earplugs Better for Sleeping?

I have slept with earplugs for years. I used to use wax earplugs, but have switched to foam earplugs. I have had tinnitus for a month / two months. I'm trying to sleep without earplugs but my neighbors are VERY noisy (Erasmus students). Last night there was no silence until 3 am in the morning...

Hey @monkey124 I have read your case and I think that my T is also closely related to stress (the ENT associates it with my jaw and neck, always tense, but I also notice if I don't think about T, even if there is no noise outside, almost disappears). What did you do to improve? Was T gone at all?

Starting to Think My Tinnitus Is Mostly Psychosomatic?

In my case I think that anxiety and stress are also an important factor. First, because the ear specialist believes that it is due to the jaw and neck. Second, because even at night if I focus on thinking about something else (without external supporting noise, just thinking about something)...

My Tinnitus Started While Having the Flu — Maybe Related to Jaw/Neck/Dental Issues

I have reviewed my notes well and I see that after the flu I was noise-free for two weeks and then it came back. It is constant, exactly, since April 29. Updating my case to say I think I'm seeing improvement... I had a really good day yesterday, with times when I didn't hear ringing in my...

Struggling with Constant Tinnitus from Earwax / Microsuction

Hey, @Abbie. My father-in-law had acoustic trauma a couple of years ago to his eardrum, from a firecracker that exploded next to his ear on New Year's Eve. He lost some of his hearing and had hiss and beeping sounds. But in a few months he fully recovered... I'm not sure about the time it took...

Low Pitch Ringing/Hum Went Away After Using a Mouth Guard and Regular Jaw Massage

I have heard a tinnitus in my left side since April, it started with a flu, but my ENT suspects the jaw and neck. The symptoms are as you describe, only the buzzing is sharp and soft. I've started physical therapy and I'm going to the dentist. I am definitely going to try the heat and daily...

My Tinnitus Started While Having the Flu — Maybe Related to Jaw/Neck/Dental Issues

Hello. I'll introduce myself. I'm from Spain, so... sorry for my English! My tinnitus started as a loud ringing in both ears in April from the flu. After I recovered from the flu, there was only a softer buzz in the left ear. I went to the otolaryngologist two weeks ago and he told me that my...
