Sorry I'm not on here too much. I think the volume is reactive. Sometimes I notice it louder after listening to some music or watching something at a moderate volume, but tends to go back down to a baseline after maybe an hour or so (never really timed it).

Fortunately the rumbling went away after a couple months. I have like a refrigerator hum though but that's mostly maskable by ambient noise.

    Low Frequency Tinnitus

The low-frequency buzzing is in the ear with the hearing loss. I think the muffle may be part of hyperacusis. I'm not sure anymore, and I try not to think about it since it's very mild now. There isn't much I can do and I've already told the ENT about it.

    Low Frequency Tinnitus

I'm starting to get used to the low-frequency buzzing and trying to learn to accept it. But it seems to be evolving in intensity day-to-day. Some days worse, some days better. Some days intermittent, some days constant. So I think my ears are still trying to settle in due to all the changes in...

I'm Aaron, Manageable Tinnitus, New to Hyperacusis

Hi everyone, A bit long so TL;DR at bottom. I'm a 36-year-old male in California and have been on this forum about a month since the onset of my hyperacusis. I have history of loud noise exposure from 4 years of marching band in high school and going to a firing ranges a couple times (with ear...

    Low Frequency Tinnitus

I was hoping it wasn't tinnitus, but everything I read leads me to it. Mine is around 160-165 Hz hum/buzz/vibration. Like many, certain things make it stop, such as: - placing a finger in my ear - certain noises at a high enough volume - when I'm talking or someone with a low voice talks -...

Intratympanic Dexamethasone Injections Greatly Helped My Tinnitus

Following up on John's reply, how many injections did you have? And how long after your hearing loss did you start injections?

Intratympanic Dexamethasone Injections Greatly Helped My Tinnitus

I just got my first Intratympanic Dexamethasone to hopefully treat my SSHL and new hyperacusis since oral Prednisone didn't seem to affect the frequency with the biggest hearing loss. The doctors believe my hyperacusis is a result of the SSHL. So kind of a last resort to hopefully improve the...

Very Low Frequency (30-35 Hz) Tinnitus in Left Ear

@Ani23, my gosh I thought I was going crazy. This is exactly what I'm going through right now and it's driving me nuts. It starts out choppy, then becomes a constant vibration. Sometimes it eventually goes away during the day, but tonight it came back after going away in the afternoon and I...

How Often to Get Earwax Cleaned If You Must Sleep with Earplugs?

I get impacted earwax every couple of years and have to get them irrigated. I just have the type of earwax that doesn't come out on its own. I don't put anything in my ears. I just got hyperacusis, and I'm afraid having to get them irrigated in the future for fear of setbacks.

Earplugs in the Shower (the Occlusion Effect): Don't Do It!

I'm a bit late to the discussion since I just joined this forum, but has anyone tried washing their hair in the sink? Such as soaking their hair, turn off the water, lather shampoo, and then rinse it off? That way you're not bombarding your head with water. I also notice that after I shower...

Acoustic Trauma from a Concert — Ear Fullness Triggered by Sound?

Hey @Jaybait2 & @jecamp1, I'm 36 with tinnitus for a long time now. It's gotten slowly worse with more sounds occurring over the years, but I've grown accustomed to them by now. (It usually takes about a week to get over that there's a new noise in my ears). Recently (5/29) I've developed what...
