No, I had the same response from neurology, audiology etc. My favourite bit of advice was to not think about it. You can tell that that person never suffered with T, let alone H or N.

It was debilitating, for me, for maybe 6-9 months. This doesn't mean yours will be for as long, nor does it mean if you suffer for longer that it won't improve. I tried everything (except medication) to improve, and have subsequently been able to reintroduce many things back into my life (e.g...

Thankfully now, the N is now gone >98% of the time, H is gone >95% of the time and the T is awful still (so indescribably loud!). The latter I can work with. I certainly haven't habituated, but it is magnitudes more tolerable than before. I'm sorry you're going through this, too. I hope you...

Hi @vilebubbles. My T was dreadful - multiple new tones per week (sometimes per day), a rapid increase in volume and sporadic reactive tinnitus. My hearing actually started to echo somewhat, which was very bizarre. The H and N became debilitating, more so the H thankfully. This really impeded me...

I really couldn't say for certain - I did notice an increased sensitivity to noises I didn't cause (dropped cutlery, other people shouting), but I didn't spend too much time yelling to test it! It certainly sounds like you're improving somewhat - let's hope it continues, but don't worry if it...

Hope the nox has continued to improve, chief. I resonate with that though, I'd have happily sat in absolute silence if it was not for the T competing for my attention. I didn't live with my partner at nox's worst, but I might as well have done - I spent most time outside of work with her...

Of course, I get that - my partner was very supportive during the worst of the nox for me, even though her and I would attend gigs frequently before that. It must be very difficult for them too, even though they're not enduring the symptoms we are.

(1/2) Hello mate, sorry to hear that you're dealing with nox. My nox is almost completely gone, thankfully. The little bit I have left is idiopathic, but tolerable. I stopped using headphones, kept digital audio from TVs/phones/monitors to below approx. 60 db, and wore plugs in noisy...

@Utdmad89 I've definitelty heard good things about clomipramine so my fingers are crossed for you. @Utdmad89 are you having to double protect all the time at the minute? Really sucks that taking meds can exacerbate things. I miss pain-relief a lot; migraines are now more annoying than the T, but I dread taking them in case they worsen it.

That said, the 12-months of intolerable H and N were horrific - I would wear plugs in meetings, in the office, in the lab, at home. Before I moved house further from work (hence the bus), I'd have walked an extra 30 minutes just to avoid walking past a busy-ish road - a walk that would have...

I can't think of anything in particular that I did, frustratingly. Truth be told, I often still have the dull aching pain but the threshold before a sharp pain is markedly higher. There's a buzzer on the bus I use which, if I haven't got my plugs in, causes a sharp, though subtle, pain even now.

I still have this. What I struggle with the most is waking up earlier than normal. During the period where my T was worsening daily/weekly, the spikes would wake me up at 3-5 am in a state of panic. Waking up early now instigates that panic, even without the T worsening.

For me, the former means to protect realistically against >75dB such as cycling on busier roads. Overprotecting, for me, would be using earplugs in quiet environments because I'm anticipating a noise that's a low likelihood of occuring (fire alarm, someone shouting in the office).
