Acoustic Trauma-Induced Tinnitus from Shooting AK-47 at a Gun Range

My advice to anyone dealing with this is to live your life and try not to focus on it or talk about it too much. I know that’s not easy. Also, don’t chase after a miracle pill or cure. I’ve been there, done that, with zero results. In fact, I think I may have made it worse by listening to one of...

Acoustic Trauma-Induced Tinnitus from Shooting AK-47 at a Gun Range

Thanks for asking, Mark. It’s a never-ending screeching inside my head. During the day, it’s manageable because I’m busy with life, but now, as I sit on the sofa watching TV, it’s competing in volume with the sound from the TV. I sleep fine, but it’s always there. It’s coming up on two years in...

Acoustic Trauma-Induced Tinnitus from Shooting AK-47 at a Gun Range

Interestingly, I experience this regularly, usually a couple of times per day or week. I actually prefer the pure tone, as it seems to come distinctly from one ear, whereas my constant noise feels like it originates directly inside my head. It’s completely unmaskable.

PSA: The Dangers of Pure Tones, Tone Generators and Frequency Sweeps

That died down but not completely and my tinnitus changed from silent in the morning, to being there from waking up. That wasn't the case before I listened to this. Makes sense?

PSA: The Dangers of Pure Tones, Tone Generators and Frequency Sweeps

This is a very interesting topic. I'm convinced this type of sound has at least for several months made my tinnitus worse. Back in June this year I listened to an audio frequency video on YouTube from 0 Hz to 16000 Hz or something like that. After 9000 Hz or so I hardly heard anything/nothing...

My Tinnitus Spikes from Online Meetings (Not Wearing Headset)

Hi @Juliane, sorry to read about this. I have meetings via the laptop, same as you, no headset. I literally feel my ears when people are chatting. Because of this, my tinnitus gets worse. Back to normal the next day. Is yours consistent in volume throughout the day? Would it help to turn the...

Is This Chronic Tinnitus After Going to an Indoors Techno Festival?

Hi @tiniturk, our situations are fairly similar. Mine started 7 months ago, after live music. The hyperacusis seems to have gone almost completely. Mine started in one ear, slowly moved to the other too, but now seems to be more coming from my brain. In your case, do you still feel it comes...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

I wanted to give an update after having tinnitus non-stop for 7 months now. I had my hearing test and got confirmation on hearing loss in higher frequencies, both ears. My tinnitus is a constant high-pitched screeching sound, I have no idea how to mask it and don't even try anymore. It is...

    My Tinnitus Disappears at Night

Very odd how for me it's the opposite then. Acoustic trauma here too. This used to be me, gradually it has gone from mild in the morning to louder throughout the day. It used to be random loudness in the morning, determining the rest of the day. This changed after about 4 months.

    My Tinnitus Disappears at Night

Hi David, how did your tinnitus start? Noise trauma or something else? My tinnitus is similar, low in the morning, gets worse throughout the day and super loud in the evening. It seems to get milder once I start to get tired in the evening. My theory is that throughout the day my ears are unable...

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) for Tinnitus

I used ALA for 2 months, 1 tablet every 2 days, and it didn't do anything for me.

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

After 5 months, my tinnitus is now 24/7 coming from the brain. I am in the UK and have been referred for further research to an ENT. Does anyone know what sort of tests I can expect? I have seen a doctor at the start that simply looked in my ears and said "all looks good." Anything I need to...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

I wanted to ask others here if they have the same as me. In the morning, my tinnitus is usually a bit lower. I then have regular work calls (not via headsets, but via speakers). When listening to people talking, I literally "feel" my ears on the inside and my tinnitus gets louder during the...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

@momus, I understand what you mean. This still happens to me once every few days. When it's in the other ear, it's actually more pleasant. How is yours developing? Mine is overall like it is in the middle of my head, not really specific to one ear. Not sure how to mask it. There are random...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

Hi all, I'm almost 4 months in and I still have 24/7 tinnitus. It is very mild in the morning but gets louder and louder throughout the day. It's more in my brain than my ears, sort of an electric whiz going through it. Totally unmaskable. @Michael Leigh, your advice has helped a lot. Thank...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

Hi all, 2 months in and my tinnitus is still 24/7 in my left ear. However, it is quite soft in the morning and gets louder throughout the day. Anyone else have this? I have started the "I hear my tinnitus, I feel xyz" from @I who love music and this seems to help. Thank you for this...

    The Positivity Thread

Since I got my ear problems, I've found out two people, a newish friend and a colleague both have tinnitus. My colleague, in his early 50s, has had it since his early 20s after gunshot noises (at least 100 shots inside a room, no ear protection). He lives a normal life and only hears it when...

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

Hi @Stuart-T and @NiMo. Thank you for your responses. I think mine is from the live music, and not the wax. Probably from when I was younger, not protecting my ears, and this bar with live music was the last drop in the bucket, similar to you NiMo. 6 weeks in and no improvement. Strangely...

Partner Not Supportive of My Tinnitus and Finds My Nighttime Sound Enrichment Bothersome

I am in the process of cancelling a concert in January. My partner tells me I should go as it might shock my ear back in place... No words... Honestly the lack of support and understanding for this condition is terrible. Best to break a leg or something to get sympathy.

Tinnitus for a Month / Two Possible Causes: Ear Wax or Live Music

Hi all, Thank you in advance for reading. I am a 36-year-old male and have been suffering from ringing in my ears for almost a month. 2 possible causes (I think): ear wax or live music. This started Friday night after being in a bar for about 2 hours with live music. I have used ear wax drops...
