This is just a life update after almost 1.5 years. Life is good. Things eventually worked out. I am happy for every moment I get to live.
Hyperacusis is 99% gone.
Tinnitus is still there, and it's kind of loud, but I don't care anymore. I don't wear hearing protection outside now, and I still...
True brother, i just randomly logged in today. I had completely forgotten about my T and my H is 99% gone. Been almost 1.5 year but things did get better eventually.
Btw my T is still there and its loud but 9/10 times i dont even hear it. Habituation for the win!
@MadeleineHope i would highly suggest using an Open MRI machine, they have very low noise levels compared to the new closed ones.
and yes 90 was general with earplugs reducing that so it went smooth and painfree.
Thank you. It wasn’t moderate but it wasn’t unbearable, if you check my earlier status updates you would know how I felt. 4-5 different tones raging my brain.
Wishing for your recovery too!
8 month update:
- I no longer carry earplugs.
- I can enjoy wedding ceremonies, but concerts are still on my never to do list lol.
- My tinnitus is at an all time low, no longer reactive (my tinnitus sometimes spikes if I use headphones for a long time, my job requires headphone usage at...
Hi, my friend. I am doing much better. My tinnitus is only properly audible in quiet places like my room. It is completely fine outside. My hyperacusis is healed about 90%, I say 90% because loud car horns still make me jump, otherwise my life has returned to normal. I am in my dream job right...
@LilSass that doesn’t have i high success rate. i looked into self learning on the injury, a book called Back Mechanic by Stuart McGill is gold for back injuries
I first tried a combined Magnesium supplement of Citrate + Lactate + Aspartate. That helped a lot. Then I went on to Malate for some time, which was not so helpful but I had slight improvements. Then I switched back to the combined one and my recovery boosted again. Currently my hyperacusis is...
5 Months Update:
- Humming has calmed down a lot.
- High-pitched tinnitus is still going strong, but not as loud and annoying as before.
- Reactivity is like 50% better than in the beginning .
- Hyperacusis has like 60-70% resolved (I think Magnesium supplements helped), I don't use earplugs...
@ErikaS time is healer, my hyperacusis has been slowly improving, but very slowly, i’ve stopped wearing ear plugs near everydays sounds, but car horns still bug me so i stay away from busy streets or highways. No changes in tinnitus currently.
@Sammy0225 if you fully make it out don’t forget to post a success story with full details of your sound therapy practice, how you incremented it and in what way so that new comers can greatly be helped from it.
@Foamearplugssuck i actually work in a tech company as software engineer, i have to often communicate with different teams over the internet and watch video tutorials with a lot of people around the office, so yeah i have to use them
@Sammy0225 i also believe this negative brain loop can be brought down by sound therapy, i’m going to check out @Coffeebean ’s posts about it as you recommended and also keep a positive mindset.
Right now i’m more bothered by my H than i am by my T tho.
Magnesium Citrate can mess up your bowels, I advise you stop taking that. Glycinate and Malate are easier on the stomach and can be very relaxing. With Glycinate, it basically depends on how your body responds to Glycine. The majority of the people report soothing effect, but a minority does...
@Moni97 its a very powerful method i came across when i started my tinnitus journey, its always in my check list to try it fully soon, its a method by @I who love music which can kickstart habituation
