Maybe their ears are damaged, but they don't have symptoms like tinnitus. My grandpa served in the artillery, and he's half-deaf because of it. Oddly, he doesn't have tinnitus. The brain is too complicated to fully understand.
I agree with you. I think middle ear implants are really promising; it seems that some patients (8 of 22, according to the paper) got their tinnitus totally eliminated.
However, I am really confused about the last paragraph of the paper. Does that mean patients without hearing loss are unlikely...
This is just my perspective after reading the paper.
Bone conduction implants could transfer sound to the contralateral side, so patients with hearing loss on one side could perceive sound from the bone conduction implants, which could mask the tinnitus. I don't think the bone conduction...
Do you still take the Finasteride? Have you had any side effects related to your tinnitus? I am basically in the same situation; I even have the same cause of tinnitus.
