New Sound, Same Ear, Different Frequency, Feeling Crushed and Defeated

Two days ago my standard 360Hz soundtrack for hating my life was joined by a new ~1000Hz tone. I had just started to get used to the original tone, and if I'm being honest, I think it was going away. Longer and longer periods of silence. Now it's back, as is this new tone, and I don't...

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Yes, it's extremely frustrating feeling like your quality of life has been utterly destroyed because of the complacency (or lack of understanding) of the only physicians you have an opportunity to see. Sorry that happened to you.

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Unfortunately 8 weeks seems like it's beyond the point where any early help could be of any benefit. The doctors I've seen are a) booked weeks in advance and b) don't seem to care much about tinnitus. Sorry you're in the same situation as the rest of us. :(

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Hello, I'm not sure it was/is an ETD. I have/had some symptoms similar to that but I'm missing other symptoms. When they look in my ear it doesn't look infected and there's no fluid, I can also hear quite well. On the other hand, I cannot "pop" the affected ear (by plugging my nose and trying...

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Hello, Before I get into anything, I just want to say thanks for taking time to answer all the questions and address the concerns people have on this site. Having an actual doctor who also understands what we're going through is important to this community. While I am a very new member here, I...

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Well, I suppose I'm screwed then. While I have slight trouble hearing at the frequency of my tinnitus (360Hz) I hear everything else fine. So I guess that means I somehow have noise induced or infection-related tinnitus and I'm stuck with this for life. I guess the fact that I can't pop my ears...

Can Someone With Physiological Knowledge Explain How ETD Can Cause Tinnitus?

Hello, As the title asks, I would love it if someone who understood physiology could explain how ETD (specifically blocked) causes tinnitus. I understand the basics, that something (allergies, infection, inflammation, etc.) causes the eustachian tube to become blocked which traps air in the...

What Are You Supposed to Do When Tinnitus Starts?

I've been trying stuff like this but it's not working so well. I want to stab my ear with a knife (recognizing, of course, that this is a bad idea). Thanks for the advice, I'll keep at it.

What Are You Supposed to Do When Tinnitus Starts?

I don't need a doctor to tell me I have a ringing in my ears - I need a doctor to help me figure out why, especially considering I wasn't exposed to loud noise. Any noise I have been around I have been wearing proper ear protection. I'll ask the doctor about the steroids. Appointment is in 5...

What Are You Supposed to Do When Tinnitus Starts?

Hello, I've had it for about 11 days. No official diagnosis but I'm pretty sure I have the symptoms of tinnitus, though I have no idea why it started. There have been no loud sound exposures, I wear earplugs whenever I'm going to be around noise (such as vacuuming) and yet here I am, reading to...
