    Hearing Aids

I've posted on my experience with hearing aids before, but another year has gone by so I guess an update is in order. I have high-frequency hearing loss in both ears and loud, high-pitched tinnitus that is quite severe at times. I've had the tinnitus for about three years now. Two separate...

Tinnitus, TMJ, Headaches, Neck Pain, Facial Pain, etc. — Possible Treatment

15 months of TMJ therapy by a "neuromuscular dentist" did absolutely nothing to help my tinnitus, despite his verbal assurances that it would. Now I'm wearing braces to fix the mess he made of my teeth! :/ Stay away from anybody claiming to be a "neuromuscular dentist" -- it's pure snake oil and...

    Neurologist for tinnitus?

I'm curious about this, too. Has anybody seen a neurologist for their tinnitus? Seems to me that if the problem is truly occurring in the brain, then it's outside the realm of what an ENT or otologist can do.

    Namenda (Memantine)

15 months of TMJ therapy by a "neuromuscular dentist" (wearing a dental orthotic and using a TENS machine to relax my jaw) did absolutely nothing to help my tinnitus, despite his verbal assurances that it would. Now I'm wearing braces to fix the mess he made of my teeth! :/ Stay away from...

Yeah, I tried it. Did nothing for me. Not at all surprised.

So, I'm giving Ginko Biloba a try... Anybody here find any relief with it?

    Hearing Aids

Hi, Louise -- It's been about a year now that I've been wearing prescription hearing aids. They are very high-quality (Oticon) and I purchased them from the audiology clinic at UCLA Medical Center. While the hearing aids have helped tremendously with my high-frequency hearing loss (music...

My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

Who did the audiograms that confirm your hearing loss is being reversed? If it's the same people doing the treatment, I would be highly suspect.

    Namenda (Memantine)

Well, I've been wearing the hearing aids for about 3 months now ("open-ear" type made by Oticon) to make up for my high-frequency hearing loss. While I can definitely hear better, the hearing aids have done NOTHING for my tinnitus. :(

Transcranial Stimulation Treatments (rTMS & tDCS & tACS)

Well, at the suggestion of my ear doctor at UCLA, I called the office of Dr. Stubbeman (in West LA) to see what rTMS treatment involves and how much it costs. Basically, it's 3 treatments per day (they treat 3 separate parts of the brain back-to-back), for about 1-1/2 hours total, 5 days per...

    Namenda (Memantine)

Well, after taking the maximum dose of 40mg per day for 5 months, I can confidently say that Namenda (Memantine) did absolutely NOTHING to alleviate my tinnitus! So, I'm on to trying prescription hearing aids (I have high frequency hearing loss, which is likely causing or contributing to the...

    Chiropractor

I've been going to a chiropractor for a couple of months. It has done nothing to lower the volume of my tinnitus. My neck and back feel great, though! ;)

    Namenda (Memantine)

Thanks for the replies, but I'd like to hear from some people who have actually tried Namenda/Memantine. Anybody?!

    Namenda (Memantine)

Yes, I know all about him. My ENT also knows him (was one of his students at UCLA). We're both highly skeptical. He's a heck of a salesman, though!

    Namenda (Memantine)

I took 3-4 mg of clonazepam for about a month. It did nothing for my tinnitus.

    Namenda (Memantine)

I have tinnitus -- high-pitched ringing/hissing in my ears. Hearing tests have shown I have high frequency hearing loss. I'm also being treated for TMJ problems by a neuromuscular dentist. My ENT doctor at UCLA has me trying 20mg of Namenda per day. It's a drug that's normally used to treat...
