“The Blob”

I don't know if you guys have seen this creature called "The Blob" on display at the Paris zoo. It is a real enigma — no brain, but has the ability to learn, and can heal itself in about two minutes if cut. I wonder if this organism can be studied and used to regenerate areas of the human body (i.e. hair cells and nerves of the inner ear).
 
It appeared 500 million years ago...
It is actually quite common and many of us could stumble upon it (in a cellar, for example). The event is simply that it is now in a zoo... but it is not a new species.
 
Wait I am now blob-fluid, so I now I identify as a globster.

Fascinating. They don't tell us where it was discovered. I guess under a rock somewhere. Would probably liken it to a lichen...
