“There is no such thing as reality - there is only perception.” Gustav Flaubert.

      Well I beg to differ.

There is permanent non-stop loud noise inside my head.
      “REALITY!”

In this highly complex, perplexing, difficult, often painful life, I always try to search out the truth, the true reality of things.

Let’s face it, facts are facts, we all have to recognise and eventually accept grossly unpalatable facts of life, don’t we?
We wish ‘it’ wasn’t so, but there is no choice, is there?

Noise inside the head is quite simply unacceptable, hateful, vile, evil, a filthy condition to have to live with.
      Right there is the dilemma.
We want to live, so presumably,
‘we have to learn to live with it.’

The callous, ignorant, uncaring action of one person, with an overgrown, aggressive, Asperger’s ego, robbed me of my former life, my passion, my career, my income, my musical skills, my composure, almost everything I held dear in life, on one fateful day.
The very next day - ‘I was in hell.’

      I said almost.

I have an adorable wife and family, that love me, and I have three wonderful pussycats.
These people deserve a ‘cheerful’ me, otherwise, my entire family suffers with severe Tinnitus.

I have truly had to work hard at this.
I could easily relapse every day of my life.
      I manage not to.
I need to accept and enjoy this new life for what it is.

I would never say that meditation is easy with Tinnitus. But to me it is invaluable.
As we sit/lay “quietly” we hear ‘naked noise’ with no distraction.
But if we can relax, with a soft mouth, a hanging jaw, and manage to let go of tension, we can drift off and accept our situation in a state of relative comfort.
For a few minutes, we are not fighting that hateful noise, we are accepting it.
      We can get better acclimatised.
(Notice I didn’t use the expression “habituated!”
I do hate to witness ‘projectile vomiting, especially if there is blood!)
We just get a little more used to hearing it, without a fight.

Seeking out reality has also meant accepting that there is no such thing as divine intervention, and insufficient evidence for belief in a god.
God may exist - I don’t know - I don’t have a pickled clue - but ‘he’ has never been a reality to me.

To come back to dear old Gustav, I mean, what did he ever achieve, except:
*his gigantic contribution to the art of education,
*perfectionist writing, that influenced the great authors,
*in-depth forays into the field of philosophy etc....
I mean what else did he achieve, apart from that....?

He never married, and never wanted children, saying:
“he would transmit to no one the aggravation’s and the disgrace of existance.”
(He got that bit right !!!)

By all accounts he did enjoy his sexuality, indulging in activities with prostitutes of both genders.
      (Possibly too much information.)

      Did somebody mention
