Hi, Im new to the forums just made my account today but ive been reading alot of what you guys go thorough. I have to said i feel for all those who had this sound in there head for any time period. ive havnt been diagnose with Tinnitus but i had this ringing in my ear since December 11, 2015 and havnt got much sleep since then. i waited a whole week before making a doctor appointment and im not schedule to go in til tomorrow. i feel like i made a big mistake waiting for it to fade out and now it has been 11 days with non stop ringing in my left ear and sometimes it feel like its coming from both not to sure but i definitely heard it in my right ear for a short period. if anyone can give me some of advice before i see my doctor and had to sleep better with the sound...btw it more of a ringing sound then anything else. thank you and i will be praying for all those who do have Tinnitus and also pray for me

Your doctor will check your ears for wax build up or infection and might prescribe ear drops etc.
Keep us posted how your appointment goes.
If you have a phone with apps try download Relax and Sleep as their are a lot of natural sounds to listen to that will help mask your tinnitus to help you sleep.
Best played on a docking station or by your device and not through ear phones...lots of love glynis

Hey welcome to the forum . Im sorry you are having to deal with this ! Try to stay calm and relaxed , most of the time the ringing goes away after some time. May i ask if you listen to loud music or had a cold recently ? For the sounds at night , if you have android , you can download an app called " White Noise " or try the one that Mme.Glynis suggested you above .

I am also new here too (8 weeks) but I saw a dr right away and it yielded me no results. For myself personally, I had no wax buildup, no infection, no exposure to loud noise so there wasn't much they could do except a hearing test and wait and see approach plus referral to audiologist for tinnitus retraining therapy.. Do you know what caused your Tinnitus? Knowing the cause (loud music exposure for example) could be helpful in determining any treatment available.
thank for replying guys and to answer David question i first started hearing the ringing after sneezing then i hear a loud pop sound and had the ringing in my ear since then...i didnt listen to loud music or anything like that i was just in bed. also to answer Natalie question i think i got it from sneezing Tinnitus doesnt run in my family or anything so im hoping when i go in tomorrow i just got ear wax build up or something like that.. thank for posting guys means alot to me i will keep u guys updated...in til then wish me good luck
Do you hear the ringing all the time, or only in a silent room? How is the ringing sound compared to when it started? Is it louder now or less noticeable? Is it only ringing, or other sounds too? How loud is it at day time, compared to night? Has there been time when you don't hear the ringing at all, and only silence?
I know it's a lot of question, but the only reasion I ask that much is to tell if your Tinnitus will fade away soon or not.

hi Ceauses and thank for replying. i hear the ringing all the time 24/7. the ringing is a steady 7 out of 10 since it started i think because i live other people i hear something all the time to counter it i guess but i still hear it. the ringing hasnt fade at any point and it been the same ringing sound since it started it. it not any louder at night but it hard to sleep unless i use my fan and tv to block it out..gonna try masker like a few people said on here and i know dont use headphone. there hasnt been any silence since i got it but i did take a nap today idk how i did maybe because my sleep pattern is mess up since it started and i didnt hear it at all but it came back as soon im replying to ya... thank for who reply going to doctor tomorrow..pray for me hope i dont have Tinnitus..i will pray for you guys too who do have it...til then il keep ya updated
Yeah, you proably got some infection or ear wax in your ear, since you haven't been exposed to loud sounds. Your ringing will most likevely fade away on it's own (or you will get cured), and I'm sure thats exactly what you're doctor is going to tell you. So relax, and let the body heal itself. My ringing is almost gone too, and it has been 17 days since my tinnitus started. And don't try to clean your ears with q-tips, it will only makes it worse. You will hopefully get better, but keep us uptaded when you do! Good luck.
thanks for all the support heading to the doctor in a few hours...hoping for the best..my ringing wasnt that bad when i woke up barely heard it. i dont know if it was because of the masker sound i had on or its fading..but il let you guys know how the doctor went.. until then wish me good luck.
lol got a few more hours before i got to the doctor but hopefully i wont need a drink after... dont worry il keep you guys updated hoping for good news
Thanks Glynis.... i went to my doctor appointment and they basically told me i healthy but i should just make a appointment with a ENT(Ear, Nose, Throat Doctor) But because it Holiday season they dont have anything for me til April?!?! So after hearing that i called up my insurance to find another ENT doctor that can see me. i got a appointment with one in about 20 days. But i cant wait that long, 2 hour after getting off the phone with my insurance i went straight to the ER. Im so glad i did you wouldnt believe how much wax they pull out my left ear, the size of 1 clump they got out(size of a index nail). They use carbamide peroxide ear wax removal and some kind of syringe. here a list of medication they gave me. (carbamide peroxide- ear wax removal) (Amoxicillin-antibiotic) ( Naproxen- Pain medicine) Please post me back if any of these Medication can cause or worsen Tinnitus..thank you all for youre positive attitude to People experiencing any type of Tinnitus...il post back on how im feeling in a few hours...im praying for all those who are in pain by Tinnitus.

Glad you trusted your instincts and went to the ER. I don't know about any of those medications. You can try googling them and their ototoxic qualities!

Im so glad you got seen quickly and got lots of wax out.
Amoxicllin is a broad range antibiotic used for lots of infections and ok to use.
Never used the pain medication but im sure someone will be along to help you with that one.
Now your ears are clean from wax ,using wax removal once a week should keep the wax at bay.

can sleeping on your stomach affect the tinnitus in anyway...also i want to take zinc pill to help heal my ear does any1 know if that help or hurt with tinnitus...should i sleep on my back or stomach, i normally sleep on my stomach
