- Flying With Head-Cold, TMJ, Unknowns?
Howdy everyone,
I'm relatively new to these forums, didn't even know they existed till I started looking around for help on a certain problem I'm having.
Just a little backstory, I've had 'normal' tinnitus ever since I was 10 years old, after a plane flight. Essentially I went deaf on the plane for a few minutes and then when it was all over, a little later that night, I could hear a high pitched sound and the air, really intensely, or well thats what it sounded like. Used to tell my mom I hated the 'sound of silence', which she thought I was being silly. So I used to play music and then fall to sleep, and at this stage I no longer notice it unless I seek it out, otherwise it has no impact on my life.
But recently, after flying with a cold, twice (To somewhere and back), after my second flight and a few hours after, I suddenly have a thumping sound in my right ear. I'm not sure if the flight caused it because it took so long to come into action but, there it is now. The flight was a little uncomfortable, but no pain whatsoever, used those weird earplugs for pressure, and took a decongestant. It does not match my heart beat, happens randomly on it's own, happens more sporadically if I open my mouth wide or eat. It's been going on about 14 hours now, and was wondering if perhaps anyone here has any insight as to what it may be? Is it pulsating tinnitus or perhaps something else? I tend to get a little paranoid when it comes to my ears.
Cheers,
Jayden
