So I was on the AudioNotch website again tonight and noticed some interesting behavior being exhibited by my hearing. I know I have hearing loss from 3 kHz to 4 kHz bilaterally.
I played a 3.3 kHz tone on my laptop's speakers and stood about 15 feet back.
By moving my head up / down and side to side, I was able to manipulate my hearing level. My hearing fluctuated from hearing in both ears, hearing in neither, hearing in left ear only, and hearing in right ear only.
So I started thinking there might be something somatic / cervical related causing my hearing loss.
However, when turning around without moving any part of my body (except for feet of course), the same thing happened!!! So it seems like my hearing fluctuates based on the angle of my ear to the source of the sound. This did not occur at 2 kHz.
Is this as as result of plasticity gone wrong? Any explanation for this?
