Cause of Tinnitus
Noise from Headphones
Hey Everyone,

I call myself Veita, and I'm a 24 years old. My T / H started last month from noise trauma, and I've written an article here which explains the details of how I received this affliction:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/773422/ins...g-loss-sony-mdr-7506-headphones#post_11738957

I classify my T as persistent, subjective pure tone tinnitus which appears to be bi-lateral (a bit louder on the left) and hopefully still peripheral. While there may be some other subtle tones, I have a loud and constant tone at about 14kHz.

I have been using this forum as a resource in my recovery efforts, and it has been a place of both hope and occasional despair. I am considering going in for the AM-101 trials, and I would greatly appreciate some advice. I already have an appointment set up for next week, but this is just the screening.

Thank You!
Veita

Hi so sorry to read your story. I am new here but have had T and H for 6 months.

If I was in your position I would go for the trials you are only one month in so they would probably take you and you are very young (compared to me) and may benefit.

I think they now only take people whose onset is under three months so it us a small timeframe.

Sad we all have to meet like this

Hey Evian, nice to meet you.

It is definitely unfortunate that we have to meet like this, but for some reason life has given us all similar issues. Hopefully there is a glimmer of light to this, and we can benefit from our negative experiences. I'm sorry to hear about your T / H, and thank you for the advice.

It appears to me as though this is a seriously hot topic for a number of companies and universities. Where there is money, there is competition, and where there is competition, there is progress. So hopefully we will see some great progress in the next couple of years.

I hope so Veita, I hope so, if not then we will need to find our ways to cope,

Sleep is one of my big issues at the moment, or rather lack of it.

And the blocked ear feeling which I understand is also part of tinnitus is driving me nuts.

Oh I did not realize that blocked feeling was common for those with tinnitus, very interesting..

Wow, I am so sorry to hear of your lack of sleep.. I wish you the best in finding a strategy that works to get your sleep back in order =)

Try to drink some camomile tea , I promise it will help , but u need to drink little bit more than a glass ( or put 3 bags of it ) and heat up the water and cover it for at least 5 mins then drink it and wait for the magic to happen , no need for meds ....

Thanks folks, need to work out his to get off of my meds as I have been in sleepers for yonks.

My T is pretty intrusive, also I'm frightened to chance anything either so something Le or start something new, I'm barely coping now so scared of chance I guess.

I keep reading all the posts that say I will get used to it, which is some comfort
