Since Friday I have had a buzzing noise in my ears which has caused me to feel very anxious and stressed out. This morning I went to a&e and was told it was due to ear wax.

I went to the pharmacy and got ear drops (otex) and have used once.Has anyone eles had this before if so how long did it take for the buzzing noise to go?

Thanks

Hi
Am new to this forum and so this message might end up in the wrong place! Anyhow, in reply to Brad, I had sudden loss of hearing last week and full feeling ears at the same time. I couldnt get to see a consultant and so went to A&E, where they said that wax could have impacted against my ear drums and they prescribed Otex. I think it might be starting to work but I think it can take a good few days and can make the problem worse at first. I also found that the full ear feeling came with much worse tinnitus and I guess that might be because the hearing loss is blocking out external sounds whichb help to mask the tinnitus. Hope the otex works for you. Let me know how it goes if possible.
Best wishes

Thanks for your post I'll keep you updated! So far no luck with otex but it is only my first day. I'm finding it hard to sleep at night when the buzzing noise is at its peak.

Hi
Still not sure if this is how I reply or if I need to click on something else first. Anyhow, hope Otex is now working out. In the end, I got to see the emergency ENT who microsuctioned my ears. Unfortunately, they left wax on the right ear drum without me knowing. So, afterwards, my hearing loss continued in the my right ear. In the end, I splashed out for an appointment with a private consultant who noticed the wax on the eardrum straightaway and finished off the job that ENT should have done. Hearing seems pretty much back to normal. Though have giant medical bill that could not really afford!
Best wishes and good luck
