My husband had a sudden onset of tinnitus in November. He has it in both ears. In the left he gets high pitches, in the right he gets a lot of what he calls energy sounds. He was "diagnosed" with Somatic Tinnitus. He can increase noise by pressure and movements of neck and upper back. His entire back and neck are really tight. He was diagnosed with TMJ and almost 3 weeks ago got a splint he wears all the time, except to eat. This is literally changing his life emotionally. The radiology report we got today from the CT scan done for TMH states we should have it looked at by a neuroradiologist. There is possible impingment of the internal carotid artery as well as the condial position could be adding on by pushing. He has tried Methocarbamol which he liked because he can take more or less depending on the level of the noise. He is currently on Cyclobenzaprine for a 10 day try. It may be reducing the noise more at times, but no control. Bad reaction to Amitriptyline. Today Dr. prescribed Gabapentin, but after reading some threads, I don't think he should take it.
What is the next step for the internal carotid artery? Could chiropractor and massage help? He needs relief he can count on.
Thanks,
Lynette
