Hi.

Can anyone please share their experiences with their cerebral angiogram?

I'm curious to know about the procedure and how you felt during and after etc?

I'm awaiting an appointment to have one done but keep worrying about the risks as I've heard there is a risk of stroke.

My consultant has suggested an angiogram and said he will perform a lumbar puncture at the same time. However, I'm wondering why a lumbar puncture can't be carried out first and then the angiogram if the lumbar puncture isn't conclusive. Is it common for both procedures to go hand in hand in your experiences?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've had 4. They are really no big deal so long as you have an experienced and skilled doctor doing them. You don't want just anyone doing this. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks. There's only one doctor I know of over here that can perform one.

It's the risk of a stroke that bothers me.

Do you know if the angiogram can make the tinnitus any worse?

I asked if I could just have the lumbar puncture done but he said no and that he would only do the lumbar puncture when he does the angiogram. I'm not sure why that is though.

Thanks for your reply.

Where are you located?

I'm located in the UK.

I think I possibly have IIH especially because of the eye symptoms. This has been mentioned by the consultant but nothing has been confirmed yet as I haven't had any of the tests done.

An angiogram and lumbar puncture are both what have been suggested.

Regards.
