Hi guys,

so it appears I have an ear infection in my middle ear, and my doctor has prescribed Chloramphenicol eye drops for this.

I am allergic to: fluoroquinolones (Ciprofloxacin) and tetracyclines (Terra-Cortril).

My last option was Sofradex and I really want that as absolute last resort. Knowing my history, my doctor gave me Chloramphenicol EYE drops (EAR drops doesn't exist in Norway anymore).

So in order to get enough, he said 2-3 drops 5 times a day for a week.

After reading online a bit, it has come to my understanding that Chloramphenicol used in ear can be ototoxic?

So... here I am. Please respond if you have some experience here?

Initially, I thought this could be treated with Amoxicillin. So, when the doctor said ear drops I was surprised and quite honestly - scared as ****.
