I chose tinn-ih-tus, because the '-aytus'-sounding suffix is usually reserved for inflammatory conditions.

I expected it to be pronounced 'tinnidus' in the US, but apparently that's not the case?

I've heard a few people pronounce it that way but none were doctors. lol maybe it's a doctor thing to enunciate conditions??

I think number two, tinn-ih-tus, is the correct one, and the one you hear most doctors use. But most average folks use the first and don't know what the hell I am saying when I use second pronunciation.

It also cracks me up how many people think I am telling them I have "tendonitis."

I pronounce it tin-aye-tus. Maybe thats why my doctors are giving that "deer in the headlight" look when I say that word to them.
