I have a cut inside my left ear as shown from the picture using an otoscope. It is itchy. I most likely got it from using Q-Tips too hard to relieve the previous itch in my ear.

What are the chances of this becoming infected, causing other issues, or worsening tinnitus?

What precautions should I take so this absolutely doesn’t get infected or turn into a bigger problem?

Imo, try to keep it clean and don't poke at it.

Would it be a bad idea to use earplugs while this exists?

Exactly what part of the ear are we looking at?

      It's not the eardrum?

      • Stop using q-tips.
      • Don't use earplugs until healed. Wear earmuffs instead.
      • Consult doctor on possible use of antibacterial ointment.
I would think risk of infection is low as long as you don't introduce bacteria into the area, so no touching or sticking things in your ear.

A tiny bit of antiseptic gel perhaps?

Does this look like an ear infection by any chance? On the outside area of my ear, the skin is also very dry and flaking.

I would take no risk and go to the doctor, that way you can definitely tell if there is an infection or not.

The half ass Urgent Care doctor said I had an ear infection (not the cut in my outer ear I showed yesterday) and prescribed me Amoxicillin after I requested it just in case. He said I had fluid behind the ear but didn’t answer me when I asked him which ear or anything.

I’m very scared right now and considering paying $200 out of pocket for a concierge doctor to check me out ASAP. The Urgent Care paper said otitis media on my right ear but the only symptom I’ve been having so far is itchiness in my left ear (same ear with the cut on the outer area).

Does this look like an ear infection to you guys? Pictures attached of each of my eardrum.

I'm not sure if you'll get an answer here as none of us are doctors.

If you're concerned, I'd suggest getting the second opinion.

I 100% would if it wasn’t for the fact that I either pay $200 out of pocket for a concierge doctor, or wait weeks to see any other doctor. I can’t work due to tinnitus and have very little money.
