      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Possibly fluid in middle ears?
      Hey there,

I suppose this is the part where I give a little background. I developed tinnitus about two years ago. Around that time, I had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, though I must admit I frequently used my headphones, probably not at safe levels. I have no hearing loss, and I managed to habituate to it just fine.

However, the Eustachian Tube Dysfunction came back last month. It's worse than before, as one of my eardrums is bulging and looking red. However, I had no new tinnitus issues. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, while at work, someone slammed a loud metal pan a few feet from my bad ear. During that time, I experienced severe reactive tinnitus. While it improved, it never fully went away, and now my right ear hears crickets when listening to white noise, such as fans.

Now, I'm starting to notice that when watching TV or playing audio from my computer, my tinnitus either spikes or I feel ear fullness, even when the TV is at a low volume. The thing is, it seems to be repressed when I'm eating or chewing food. And it calms down pretty quickly after the source is removed. Is this just acoustic trauma that will get better with time by avoiding loud sounds, or is there something else I could be doing?
