Ear Infection Tinnitus Spike

Hi all,

So my tinnitus started this past February, and after the first 6 weeks of despair, I've been managing it pretty well. I still sleep with a fan, but it rarely bothers me and I go most of the day without actively thinking about it. Even when I do think about it, it's worth a certain amount of blase awareness. I don't panic over it anymore.

Until yesterday. I caught a cold from my son, and it turned into a sinus infection and ear infection (right ear). I'm on day 2 of Augmentin, and my tinnitus spiked like crazy last night. My right ear is full and painful, and my tinnitus has moved from being an "irritation" to a full-blown "problem" again.

Looking for stories of folks whose tinnitus was spiked from an ear or sinus infection--how long did that spike last before it went back to baseline?

i was on augmentin and then amoxil for a strep pneumonia. my ears did not like it! i switched to keflex and was fine. my spike lasted about a week then settled back down
