Hi there,

I would appreciate some advice:

I have learned here that ears are self-cleaning and so I have (literally) not touched my ears the last weeks/months.

Now my problem (sorry this is not fun to read): there are smaller clots of ear wax at the entry of my ear canal. How to remove them in a safe way? Clots are also partly dried bits.

Is it safe to use the pinky finger and only put it in one inch or less to remove the clots? I would avoid doing this in the shower; finger and ear should be dry. Will I be pushing things back in? What else could be done?

Am I the only one having this problem

@MilesD,
I would just put some ear wax softener in or olive oil drops from the chemist and have your ears checked early next week if it has not come out.
Don't get poking anything in your ear.

Thank you so much for the quick reply!

I had not thought about using liquid to soften things up but I rather not put liquid in my ear for fear of messing sth. up. Not sure if my ENT would maybe remove more wax deeper in which I do not really want at this point. Would he not also have to stick sth. in my ear because I would not let him put water in and use microsuction. The wax that bothers me is at the entry of the canal. You can see it from simply looking at the entry of the ear canal so it's almost out.

The clots are more or less around the tragus and on the direct entry. Would it be dangerous to remove them with my finger? What could happen in the worst case? I read that it is about the suction effect (is that true?) therefore I would be very careful and keep everything dry.

Hi. I am just checking up here. I have also opted for the natural process of ears cleaning themselves. Do you still do it this way? Has there been any complications?
