Hi all
I will fly to Amsterdam in a day but I'm about to have flu. I'm scared to death to make my severe T even worse. What do you recommend? The flight is unavoidable though..

Thank You

Hi Beste, MOST of people flying with flu won't have major problems.

But you can take extra precautions.

I did fly last December with FLU, I just got Guaifenesin couple of hours before the flight, it's a descongestant and I found it on Internet others used it also when flying. Try to use earplugs, but the ones for airplanes, not only because of pressure, but because some airplanes are loud, not loud enough to cause you damage, but if you feel your ears kind of sensible the sound could bother or irritate you.

And the best, just relax, everything will be ok.

Regards!

+1 for the Guaifenesin, it will loosen up your snot so it won't be a problem equalizing with pressure changes.

Good luck.....it should be fine with ear plugs....it will come back to normal within few hours...or couple of days..

Beste I have found that stress and depression and maybe compulsion obsessive disorder has played a big part in my tinnitus may I ask do you have the same conditions ?

Hi guys
I just came back from 5 hours of flight and I'm having a very huge spike. The T is so loud that I feel like my head will explode. It did not happen at the beginning of my journey though. But this time I had to take a break in Greece before getting Turkey. So that means it is two take offs and take downs (Mm not sure you call it like this tho) I hope it will settle down. Peace.

I am wondering why this would bother you. If you got your T from benzos withdrawal then your T is in your brain. What difference would changes in altitude make since that is your ear and your ear isn't technically your problem? Just curious if anyone knows.
