I've had noise-induced tinnitus since 2016.

It's generally been fine, except for occasional spikes.

But since December 14, it doesn't seem to go away completely. Well, it does subside, but then it comes back again at night.

I'm not sure why this has suddenly happened, but I've been feeling stressed. I did go out to a bar for a few hours, but I was wearing 32 dB earplugs, and the volume in the bar was only around 85 dB. I've done this plenty of times before without any issues—aside from a hangover!

I also played classical guitar and sang in my apartment, but the volume was only about 55–75 dB.

The tones are the same as before, and it's manageable during the day, but at night, it gets much louder, taking me back to how things were in 2016.

My insomnia isn't as catastrophic as it was back then, but it still wakes me up 2–3 times a night.

I'm just looking for some encouragement to get over this hump again.

I've also been experiencing a spike over the past few weeks after years of mild tinnitus from a horrible noise exposure.

It turns out that I started drinking a couple of glasses of red wine a day around the same time. For years, I had one or two glasses of white wine daily with no issues, but apparently, red wine is known to cause tinnitus to spike.

Is it possible you've introduced something new into your life—like a different drink, a new medication, or a new spice in your food? Any of these could potentially cause a change in tinnitus.

P.S. I stopped drinking red wine, and the spike has already started to subside after just three days.

I assume you're more experienced with tinnitus than I am, but do you listen to any tinnitus tracks at night? I find they help either distract me or even reduce the tinnitus sounds. Below are a couple of tracks I use.

This one can actually stop my tinnitus noise while I'm listening to it:

This one doesn't stop my tinnitus but helps lessen the mental anguish:
