Cause of Tinnitus
Flight
Hi everyone, thank heavens I've found this site, as I'm ready to jump of a bridge!

My problems started after a non eventful flight of 4 hours, I was partying with friends and had a boat trip, so when the dizziness, walking on a bouncy castle feeling and these continual gas kettle so nd drum kits in my ears started, I just thought I'd overdone the holiday, as it was I had to come back early ( another 4 hr flight) I waited a week but the symptoms were getting worse so went to doctor, labyrinthitis they said, take these and get on with it basically, after a month I went back again in despair, Ménière's they said take these and get an appointment at ENT, eventually that came through , vestibular migraine they say and gave me beta blockers.

I live alone, am unable to work because of this and have gone from a fun loving middle aged woman whose only stress of the day was choosing what to wear, to a wobbling, whistling wreck who cannot walk properly, can't sleep unless I've a belly full of booze and these gas kettles in both ears are at levels I didn't know were possible, I've had a hearing test and for my age apparently my hearing is exceptional , is this why the noises are louder.

I think now my despair is making me have anxiety as at night it feels like my heart is about to pop out, like you all I'm scared, I've just had an mri scan but have to wait two weeks before the results so the hospital say, if I borrowed money and went private does anyone think it would help.

I'm so tired and confused I don't know which way to go and these noises are driving me insane, any advice would be appreciated , thank you

Sounds like barotrauma. Some folk off here have had similar experiences from scuba diving side effects. Happens due to pressure changes in the ear damaging the way the auditory system works in the inner ear. Yup, I'm 42 in a few weeks. It sucks utterly. Have a look at this- someone on here's recovered fully after flight induced tinnitus:
