I heard on the radio today. Health professionals are advising children to wear earplugs to protect their hearing when blowing up a balloon.

Well 157, which seems a little high.

I wonder how loud this balloon was.

I see a lot of people with hands in "ears area" after the explosion, so I'd say it was really damn loud.

Edit: I turned on the audio now.

      "My ears are ringing"
      "So are mine"

      With all due respect, idiots.

So a baloon pop is like a car air bag going off. That's surprising.

I would assume it's worst case scenario for a recreational balloon pop. I doubt 157db is the average. Still loud, though.

It's more like 120-130 for a standard balloon.

You know what makes me nuts about my T? I've ALWAYS hated and avoided loud noises. Fireworks I've always covered my ears, popping balloons has been a fear of mine since childhood. I avoid loud sudden noises like the plague. But after all my avoidance, (and I avoided them because I don't like them, not because of the T) I become the one with T. Makes me angry!
