Hey all,

I'm Meg. I went from mild, stable tinnitus to reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis within just a few months, all because of my own very stupid decisions. I did not know what hyperacusis was. I did not realize tinnitus could get worse so easily. I thought my mild, stable tinnitus was fine and that I could live normally.

I have a four year old who is autistic, so I cannot be in a quiet, stable environment. I love my son, husband, and parents so much, but I do not see much of a future for myself.

Anyway, I am terrified and basically counting down the days until I am completely homebound, which I already almost am. I get new tones every few days—some stay, some do not. I understand that I am completely screwed.

Why do you jump to the conclusion that you are screwed and have no future?

Worsening doesn't mean you will stay like this permanently. You might get better.
