Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone still dyed their hair - if the chemicals in the dye might make tinnitus worse.

Hoping that people can share positive experiences.

Sarah

I had tinnitus for 6 months, and I dyed my hair at least 4 times during that period. No reaction. But hey, please note that my tinnitus did not react to anything such as food, drinks or loud sounds.

Anecdotally, mine started a few days after I switched from salon color to do-it-yourself color. I've used the same brand since and update every 8 weeks and haven't correlated spikes with the dye. However, I've had tinnitus the whole time I've used that brand of hair color. Sometimes when I'm lying in bed looking for things to worry about one worry is that I'm re-kindling the tinnitus every time I dye my hair and that if I just let it grow out it's natural color the T would fade away.......

I chalk this all up to anxious thinking and then dye my hair anyway, but what if????:cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious:

Highly unlikely. I dyed my hair for a decade with all types of dye (permanent, bleach, henna, gel and so on).

Given that the only hair color I haven't had is green, I'm almost positive I would have encountered a dye that affected my T if that was a likely scenario.
