Hello everyone,

I am new here and have been doing my own research on my tinnitus.

Has anyone tried using antioxidants for relief?

I take a combination of Vitamins A, B, C, and E, along with Selenium, Glutathione, Magnesium, and Curcumin throughout the day. This routine lowers the noise by several points. Everyone is different, but in my case, the noise is usually an 8 out of 10 when I wake up, and I can often reduce it to a 1 or 2—sometimes even better, though not always. When needed, I take Curcumin, as it seems to help with underlying low levels of inflammation in my body.

I take these vitamins individually rather than in a multivitamin, as I need approximately 1,000 mg of Vitamin C and 400–800 IU of natural Vitamin E (not the synthetic version made in a lab). Sugar seems to aggravate the problem.

I recently read that Zinc might help, so I still need to add that to my routine.

Just my two cents!

I have, with some success. I began with this article on antioxidants, an internationally sourced study published in Switzerland that touts a specific regimen of vitamins and antioxidants:

What I did was find (1) a Multivitamin and (2) a B-Complex Vitamin that together provided the same or greater nutrient levels (get out your spreadsheet!). Then, I added Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) and Grape Seed Extract, spacing them out throughout the day. I assume some trace elements (e.g., Selenium, Manganese, etc.) come from food.

To this, I have added 3,000 mg of Taurine and, most recently (based on various new studies), Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC), 500 mg twice a day.

Is it all helping? YES. It has definitely lowered the volume. Some days, I wake up almost tinnitus-free!

I should also mention my sleep regimen, which includes GABA, L-Theanine, and Magnesium L-Threonate (see YouTube: Stanford's Andrew Huberman – Master Your Sleep). I bring this up because GABA is a calming neurotransmitter that does cross the blood-brain barrier when assisted by Niacin or ALC. Plus, better sleep always helps tinnitus.
