      Cause of Tinnitus:
Problems since a child with my ears. Losing hearing as well.
I suffer from severe tinnitus recently my brilliant doctor gave me Ciprofloxacin for a uti which made my tinnitus worse.

Is there anything I can do to help with my tinnitus that's become problematic? I've had tinnitus for a long time but it has gotten worse over the years and this med aggregated it as well.

Speak with your doctor about discontinuing the medication. There should be alternatives that you can discuss. Good luck!

Since you do have a bacterial infection (which you imply with your statement), it may not be wise to forego an antibiotic treatment (some of them are not ototoxic).
It is also generally not a good idea to stop an antibiotic treatment midway.
Bacterial infections are no joke when left untreated (or poorly treated).

If I were in your shoes I would talk to the doc for advice asap: s/he can probably prescribe a different and more suitable antibiotic.

      Hi Jenny!

As far as UTI...you don't wanna play around with that. You might be feeling better but since you didn't take the meds all the say through it will probably come back. I'd keep taking them but call your doctor asap so maybe they can send something else in for you.

The last thing you want is a prolonged uti on top of this ear issue we both have.

      Good luck. God bless.

Yes I know I will look into another treatment for uti. As for tinnitus it actually started as a young teen but on and off ringing because ear infections wax & all the problems I had with my ears. It got worse over the years I have to take a guess around 2007 it wouldn't leave at all and I had it 24/7. But this year it is the worst I've had it. Louder than ever before. I have it in both ears but the left ear where I'm losing my hearing is the worst. I have a hearing aid but that doesn't help. I bought a sound machine helps only when it's ringing is not so loud which lately is rare for it not to be loud. Is there anything that has helped anyone vitamins or anything?? I've tried to so many things and am lost. I even looked into possibly buying tinnitus terminator sound treatment.

Cipro is a powerful antibiotic and is prescribe alot for UTI infections. I have even heard of people having hallucinations taking that for longer periods of time. Definitely have a talk with your Doc and see if he can give you some other effective drug and hopefully your T will settle down.

The Tinnitus Terminator did nothing for me or any one else on this forum that I no of...Only thing that ever helped me was valium or xanax but taken sparingly...Tried every vitamin, herb even Neuromonics and didnt help my T..The Neuromonics im still experimenting with but definitely gave me temporary relief playing the classical music...
