Looking for those who experience this strange phenomenon. I had high pitched tinnitus one night and since the next day, my left ear has been so hot. My muscles around the neck are also seriously tense and burning too.

Things that I'm considering: Tension in the inner muscles or just nerve related.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and if it went away for any of you?

I appreciate your thoughts and feedback. My tinnitus is not noise-induced - rather stress/anxiety related.

I was also extremely stressed when my acoustic trauma occurred. I just started seeing a TMD specialist. He gave be some insight into the muscles and how they can impact tinnitus. It really helped that someone at least was trying to help the situation for me.

Do you also wake up stressed or shaky? Sometimes with stress we can clench our jaw and the masseter muscles causing an adrenaline response. The key is utilizing relaxation strategies. I'm also starting physical therapy for the jaw muscles. Magnesium (CALM) 2-3 times a day helps too.

Hi there,

I started getting mild tinnitus in November. Doctors believe it's due to stress/anxiety. My mother also had tinnitus and I had been living with her over several months. I don't know if her stress caused my tinnitus to occur. Over the next several months, my tinnitus got so much worse after I went to chiro and he did a high velocity manipulation on my neck.

Now I am dealing with a slight static hissing noise that I can't seem to get rid of as well as multiple tones in my left and right ear.

After several weeks, the new tinnitus never went away and that's when my doctor prescribed me Zoloft (taking 12.5mg). I have been taking this for about 12 days and I just don't feel right. After reading several posts about Zoloft and how it can worsen tinnitus, it makes me really want to wean off from since there are a lot of people who mentioned that Zoloft can cause tinnitus. I feel like my tinnitus has gotten a bit worse and I don't know if it's chiro, the med or my anxiety that is making things worse. Tinnitus give me so much heightened anxiety that I don't know how to control it every day. It's been really rough on my family, friends, boyfriend. I feel like a totally different person and I just want my life back.

Any positive experiences would be great. I'm really having a difficult time living with this misery.
