How Could One Cover Up Peltor X4A Muffs' Chartreuse Color?

I bought Peltor X4A muffs. I am happy about this purchase. Both X4A cups are as wide as ONE X5A cup. So X5A muffs are twice as wide.

The problem with X4A is that their horrible chartreuse color will draw as much attention to me as the width of X5A. Has anyone figured out a way to cover up that color?

I have seen at least one person post on a Facebook group that they used a black Sharpie magic marker to color the chartreuse portions of the X4A Peltors to be black.

But I have not tried this personally.

I do own both the X4A and X5A and like you, do not like the bright color of the X4A and do not like the big size of the X5A.

Seattle Seahawks wear about that same color with their rush uniform. They don't seem to mind.

I am worried that it would compromise their integrity.

I guess using a marker is a way to go.

I had considered covering those parts of the muffs with black tape. But when I wear those muffs in public, that black tape will most likely make me feel like the guy in the clip below (warning, not safe for work):

They look pretty snazzy to me. I didn't realize the width was so much less. I'm going to order a pair!

Why not just wear earplugs? They'd be far less conspicuous than the muffs.

I am leaning towards doing that. The only problem with earplugs is that you have to have to handle them just before inserting. I don't like rolling my earplugs with my fingers after a day spent touching door knobs and other surfaces that might contain bacteria.

Also, I live in a mountainous area and I noticed ear fullness when I drive while wearing earplugs.

I see ear muffs in a lot of different colors, but I don't know if they're X4A or X5A or what. The ones I own now are 3M Peltor in beige, but I don't like the large red and black lettering.

I've been looking for more aesthetically pleasing muffs and I'm considering these from Pro For Sho.

I don't know what level of protection they are. I'm drawn to them because they look slim and the logo doesn't make them look quite as industrial. I'm always looking for muffs that could be mistaken for headphones. Many people around here wear headphones, so I'd like to blend in with them.

Actually, the reason I haven't bought these yet is that I know I should buy the brown ones but I really really want the pink ones.

I was thinking you could rub horse manure on them to change to a earth tone color?

I tried covering the color with a sharpie permanent marker. They look great now. I am a little concerned about it staining my fingers in the future. We will see.
