Hyperacusis

Hi Dr. Gans,
Not long ago someone mentioned your course being helpful at the hyperacusis network. I was wondering if you could elaborate how your course could help someone like me who has hyperacusis with pain, tinnitus, and possibly misophonia/phonophopbia.

Hi Lynn, the course is specific to tinnitus but the principles and skills taught are quite similar for all of the things you mentioned. There is an introduction to the course that describes what to expect. There is a saying, "Pain in life is inevitable, but suffering is optional". The course teaches you how to limit the suffering about whatever the pain may be. I hope to in the future make modification to the course to include such things as hyperacusis, misophonia/phonophobia--right now it is focussed on tinnitus.
