My tinnitus is growing a beard.
The other day, I received a note on a very small piece of blue paper (signed by a notary public, no less) on which my tinnitus indicated it is taking this dubious, if incredible step to protest the fact that I ignore it.
Included was a rudimentary sketch of a Van Dyke, a style chosen, I am sure, in remembrance of Anthony van Dyck, a 17th century Flemish painter for whom this type of beard is named, and whose tinnitus was once favorably compared with the beleaguered belching of his most famous subject, Charles I.
This news could not have come at a better time! I was trying to figure out, with little success, why one of my tinnitus sounds had suddenly disappeared. I now believe it is because my tinnitus stopped shaving several weeks ago.
