Is a Casino Too Loud? Can They Worsen Tinnitus?

Tinnitus Since
2/2015
Finally, after 4 months of tinnitus, I started feeling better in the past week and decided to go with my friend to the local casino yesterday afternoon.

I wore my earplugs all day except taking them out to eat something. Even with my earplugs in it was so loud in the casino. My ears started whistling really loud as soon as I got there, and haven't let up since. This was the first time I thought maybe my life could get back to normal and I could start socializing again.

Now I'm sitting home upset and sorry that I even went. I looked at all the people in the casino (it was really crowded) and no one seemed bothered by the noise. I'm afraid I've made my tinnitus worse now. How can a person live a normal life when tinnitus screams as soon as you go anywhere?

I went to bar yesterday and felt the same. I wish I would know answer to your question. I don't know maybe just wait and hope for the best? We must find joy somewhere else. T is a beast and only accepting it can make a change. Fighting it seems not to be helping. Mine started one year ago and I did not have a day without thinking about it since. Maybe that's my problem.

It's been 11 days since tinnitus started, I see that's it's lower in volume "knock on wood" however, I'm visiting my parents in Ohio, we are going to the casino. I will be wearing ear plugs... Is this a good idea? I'm so nervous!!

I have loud tinnitus for 10 weeks now after a loud rock concert and we went to a local casino last night. It was 75 dB on average. I stayed away from the loud parts. Did not wear plugs. When I got home I did notice a small spike in my tinnitus but it went away quickly. I did wake up this morning with a small spike also.

I agree with the others that most casinos will be okay in terms of the noise level. The only thing to maybe watch out for is live music which some casinos sometimes have.

Sorry to be frank but going to concert with no earplugs with tinnitus is asking for lifetime trouble. Please never complain afterwards; if you have tinnitus, earplugs are your lifetime companion. That does not mean wear them all the time, but loud noise is a constant danger.

We go to casinos a couple of times a week. I put an app on my phone to measure decibels. The average is around 70 dB. Is that too much?

70 dB is not that loud for short periods of time (an hour or two).
