Hello

Have been having Tinnitus for about 3 weeks now. Any advice?
I pretty much overcame the panic and anxiety attacks in the beginning.
I took a Valium last night and now the ringing is even louder.

Is it bad to take Valium?
thanks

Well, doctors are going to give you meds in order to see which ones will help you.

Valium is used to treat anxiety and muscle spams which are known to make T worse.

Do you know why you were given Valium?

I was prescribed Valium due to my severe anxiety but I rarely take it.

I'm still trying to figure out what causes my T and H.

We can just rely on time and trail and error. We must find out what triggers our T or H and then narrow our options down to the culprit.

It's just so hard to do. I've been on 3 prescriptions of prednisone within a month and I don't know if it's actually doing anything. I don't see results. I'm just harming my body.

Hi @Reverb99 -- If you've overcome your panic and anxiety attacks, I don't really see a need for you to take a benzodiazapine. I had some valium on hand when I first got t, and I wasn't able to sleep hardly at all. Once I took a small speck of valium, I was able to sleep through much of the night. So it was great for me, though I still only use it in case of emergencies.

When I asked my doctor for a small prescription of valium, he suggested Lorazapam instead, as it was supposed to have a shorter half-life. I took a 1/4 tablet of that, and had a mild seizure a couple hours later--which is just the opposite of what it does to most people. -- If your tinnitus worsened from the valium, then you should probably avoid it, just like I now avoid Lorazapam like the plague.

Best!

Meds can be a blessing and can also be a curse. Med affect us all in different way. Benzos can be possibly helpful on an as needed basis. I would not take them on a regular basis, because it can possibly lead to addictions and dependency. For some benzos can help with lowering their ringing, for some it can make it louder.
