Hi, everyone. Is tinnitus generally the last symptom to subside after an ear infection or eardrum inflammation?

I was wondering if you know anyone whose tinnitus went away after the physical eardrum had healed. If yes, how much time did it take for their tinnitus to go away?

Thank you.

Thanks, @GregCA. My ear has been noted as healed since a month, the tinnitus remains. ENT prescribed Medrol which I finished recently. It is lower but still there. :-(

Well I'm not sure but I'm going in almost two months and it is 95% gone. Only time at night is hard but it is getting better. Just be sure to keep your sinuses clear.

Thanks @hopeforme. I have been in this a little over two months myself. It has not been a steady decrease for me, but it appears to be getting better. A few weeks back, it was made worse by two separate incidents of loud noises. During these two months, I also suffered from cold two times; the headaches seemed to make the ringing worse. Keeping my sinuses clear as you suggest.

Take care of your body and time will heal. I always make sure at night that I get all the gunk out during a hot shower. Steam inhaling and started taking vitamins. I stopped eating junk food also. Give it time and have faith.

..and yes give your ears a rest! I noticed my ears are more sensitive now.

I'm no expert by any means, but T seems to be the last thing to go with most conditions that it is a symptom of, including depression. I read a newspaper story recently of a man who had T, went to the emergency room, was referred to a psychiatrist who diagnosed him with depression (even though he insisted he wasn't depressed). He was given anti-depressants and sleeping medication. His insomnia was the first thing to go, followed by the depression, and lastly, T.

Thanks for sharing this case. Hoping that tinnitus leaves us!

Thanks for sharing. My tinnitus was horribly loud at first. Thankfully, it never went back to that level. Either that or my tolerance level was better. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a recovery. Have unavoidable dental surgery coming up and praying that it doesn't get worse.
