Hi guys, so story short I've developed tinnitus due to high noise exposure 21 days ago. I currently live in London and have tried a few things so far.

I have taken prednisolone for 9 days (starting with 60mg) but honestly that didn't seem to help. I have also, and continue, taking Flunarizine twice a day. Will start on Betahistine this coming week, but in terms of drugs, this will be it.

At the same time, I am taking Zinc, Vit D, Ginkgo, NAC, Omega 3 and NMN, magnesium and curcumin are arriving. As you can see, I tried to act fast and no more than 9 days I had most of it in hands. However, since none of this seem to have worked wonders so far, I want to try some alternative new things while I am still in the acute phase.

- Has anyone have done or have anything to add regarding intravenous laser therapy? There are a couple of places in London that do it.

- How different or similar intravenous laser therapy is in terms of outcome compared to the normal laser therapy which is well talked about in here? This is also an option, many osteopathy and physical therapy places have this. However, I am not sure if the device is correct or indicated for tinnitus such as these I've read in here from Dr Wilden (?).

- Has anyone tried ozone therapy and could talk a bit about it? I'm not sure about the benefits. It seems quite scary but I'm willing to try if I hear good things.

- IV curcumin - waste of money as I have bought the capsules already?

Thanks for the time x

Hey man,

I'm currently doing home LLLT using a laser device I bought from konftec. I'm getting success from using the device and other individuals such as soundbound have been getting success as well. Since your tinnitus is relatively new, I'd definitely recommend trying out LLLT whether that is done at a clinic or through a home laser device.

There are doctors in Sweden (Dr. Michael Zazzio) and Norway(Dr. Anne Harilla) who specialize in LLLT. You could personally email them if you have questions regarding LLLT.

Re: IV laser therapy, I'm not familiar with it. Has it ever been applied to tinnitus?

Is there any clinic in London offering LLLT for tinnitus?

Other things you can try in London are vagus nerve stimulation (Parasym), neurofeedback, perhaps TMS, I'm trying to decide what to do next myself.

Thanks for the reply. Answering the first question, I've seen a couple of people saying they had it - remember the guy who went to Thailand for stem cells, had this IV laser in there as well. The general idea is similar to the topical laser.

In second, not exactly in the headlines but this place for example (https://www.perfectbalanceclinic.com/services/laser-therapy-london/) said they have practice with tinnitus. However each consultation is £85 (how many would be needed?) and I'm not certain about their £4,000 laser.

thanks for the reply. Do you have an idea of prices and number of sessions recommended for these scandinavian treatments?

There is an absolute lack of evidence supporting LLLT, the services offered are generally extremely expensive, it did nothing for me and I put it firmly in the scam file

Some people will "improve" from it, because some people improve spontaneously. Spooky scary!

Every serious large sample RCT I've seen looking at LLLT for tinnitus has concluded "placebo" or "maybe minimal effect, more study needed". The only good evidence is for skin would healing and there the effect is modest.

It's your money, do what you want.

May I ask where and when did you started LLLT?

I'd recommend starting out with home LLLT first and if it has any effect you could go for a clinical application in the future. Also, I recommend getting a konftec device since they have a 90 day money back guarantee. Essentially, you have nothing to lose if you don't get results. Trying something is always better than doing nothing.

Through a provider in a major metropolitan area in the DC area. I don't live there any more. She had extremely expensive, powerful lasers compared to Konftec or whatever -- and there's no reason I've found to think that a laser is better at this than just using a wide-area array of LEDs at the same spectrum; if the wattage is sufficient you get the same penetration at a fraction of the cost, also it's harder to accidentally blind yourself.

There's research to suggest that doing HBOT as early as possible can aid recovery.

Not aware of any research that shows any benefit from lasers.

(I'm all for doing anything and everything that seems promising, but I just can't find any compelling evidence out there for lasers).

Bout to drink some nasty tasting fresh turmeric juice.:confused:

I've definitely seen research showing increased hair cell recovery in rats. The problem is it is all Korean/Chinese so I take it with a grain of salt. In the US research I've seen they always use laughable specification in terms of laser power or duration, like 5mW for 5 minutes. So I don't know where I end up honestly. It seems as though there is no reputable research with the right specifications...
