I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice. About four weeks ago, I started noticing a soft ringing in my ear. Assuming it was caused by wax buildup, I treated it with Otex for five days. Unfortunately, my ear became a bit sore, and I foolishly used a cotton bud, which may have worsened things. Now, the ringing is persistent and varies in pitch.
I visited an earwax removal clinic where they examined my ears. They found no wax but noted that I had inverted eardrums and likely Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. The ringing changes pitch when I clench my jaw, and I've had TMJ issues in the past. They sent me an image of my ear, and I asked about a red patch I noticed. They said it was likely caused by retraction rather than inflammation.
I've been following their advice, including steam inhalation, using decongestants, and even trying an Otovent balloon, but I haven't noticed any improvement. The ringing now sounds like a whistling that varies in pitch. It becomes particularly intense in the mornings, especially when I hear any sound. Masking provides some relief, but I'm unsure how to make it better—or at least prevent it from getting worse.
I have a hearing test scheduled in under two weeks because I suspect I might have mild hearing loss in the affected ear. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
