I just registered on here, btw...

My Tinnitus started about 2.5 weeks ago and i've been having it really rough since then, after a week and a half i calmed down slightly but a few hours ago i watched a tv recording that gave out a loud high pitched noise from the tv, which i listened to for like 1.5 hours, it was annoying but i figured it would go away once i stopped watching, obviously.

After i stopped im feeling like my Tinnitus, which is a constant high pitched noise, sounds like a car alarm almost feels louder and that got me really really worried, im thinking its gonna stay like this forever and ill get panic attacks left and right, can anyone tell me that listening to annoying tv sounds that sounds like a tinnitus cant make mine permantly worse

I've suffered from bad nerves and anxiety for many years before i got my T so im handling this pretty poorly.

Hang in there. Stress only adds to it. I've only had this for 2 months. There are some products out there that can tone down the noise. I am using Clear Tinnitus. There is also a product coming out next year called Mute Button that may even cure tinnitus. I am very hopeful.

Thanks, ill try an hang in, im hoping that the increased T is just a spike, something that will pass, since it went up i've gotten even more sensitive to noises, just typing on a mechanical keyboard makes me cringe right now, hopefully T cant just get worse from one hour to the next and stay there forever, my hearing test was normal aswell , and cause of that my doctor wanted me to wait a whole month before he'd send me over to an ENT, going back tomorrow to talk and tell him i cant wait that long

It will calm down, just don't give loud or annoying noises chances to make worse T! Protect your ears if needed (bars, concerts, cinemas) and discuss a treatment with your ENT. Also, ask for something to sleep if you have problems (I hope you don't). Remember that anxiety it's our enemy...
Be well, and keep us posted!

Try to stay calm, we all went thru the same sh&t. Easier said then done. We all knew that as well. You mention your keyboard causes you to cringe. Sounds like hyperacusis not T. Check the forum for more info about H.

Hang in there buddy!

I've had T for about 2 months. It's very stressful in the beginning. Being stressed out definitely can make matters worse or seem worse. It can calm down if you can find ways to cope or deal with it. Masking is a good thing to try first. Finding sounds that can cover your T. There are many apps that offer many sounds from a shower to rain storms or birds, even busy office or coffee shop sounds. Finding a way to lose the sound within another sound is helpful for some of us. You can even use music you just like to listen too. Just not too loudly. It's about getting away from the constant assault of the T. I've been finding more and more days that I don't notice it anymore. I play nature sounds or watch tv, or just focus on my hobbies while playing my favorite music. I've gotten as far as not noticing it at all for hours now. Finding a bit of time to find a little sanity is a good thing. It helps to find longer and longer periods where T isn't so overwhelming. Good luck to you.

Just try to stay calm: as others have said, stress and anxiety only serve to fuel up the intensity of the symptom. Try to relax perhaps by using masking sounds or dedicating yourself to a completely different activity or distraction.

It's very likely you're just having a temporary volume spike, which was amplified by that TV hiss you constantly listened to. I advise to assess the situation rationally: whether it is an objective alteration in your perception or not, worrying about it and overthinking simply doesn't provide any help or aid.

Keep us updated and in the meantime distract your mind with positive, constructive and entertaining things!

Thanks alot for all your support guys, its means alot, just had some scrambled eggs and watched abit of food network, feeling better now, almost back to where it was before that damn recording, hopefully tonight it will remain that way, the first 5-6 days i had T i didnt really have anxiety or depression, and slept fine but after that came along ive been waking up 2-3 times a night except 1, luckily i go back to sleep after not too long.

DUDE DON'T WORRY I had that too.
I hear some ringing/static sound and it stays with me for a day it's just your brain being stressed as fuck about the Tinnitus.
Don't worry dude just stay relaxed.
A month ago I had really bad Tinnitus but it settled to an air sound and the only time it spikes is if I get angry or stressed otherwise it's just a faint air sound I don't mind.
Just hang in there shit gets better, I'm not NEAR habituated and my Tinnitus is extremely mild.
