Dear members,

Christmas is only a month away, and we are already working towards our campaign for Tinnitus Week 2019, which will take place from 4-10 February. The theme of Tinnitus Week, this time around, will be Social Isolation.

We are fully aware that the impending holiday season is not necessarily going to be easy for some of you. Your tinnitus might inhibit you from enjoying the season's festivities as you used to or as you would like.

And obviously it's not just during the holidays that you may struggle with social activities. For instance, are you still able to go to the movies or concerts? Do you spend as much time with friends as you used to? Do you sometimes feel lonely because of your tinnitus? Do your loved ones understand what you are going through?

You can help raise awareness about the social impacts of tinnitus by sharing your personal story. This can be in any format you like, e.g. written, audio, video, cartoon – whatever you feel most comfortable with.

The only rules are:
- You should talk about how tinnitus has impacted your social life, e.g. connections with friends, family or loved ones; ability to go out, etc.
- Your submission, whatever format it's in, should preferably take no more than a few minutes for the public to read/hear/view.

Please respond to this thread, either publicly or to me and Hazel via PM, if you're interested in participating. Tell us what you'd like to submit, and we'll take it from there.

We will keep this thread open until 1 January, and then use a selection of the submissions for our campaign during Tinnitus Week.

Let your voice be heard and send us your story!

Awesome. Thanks!

Oh geee... it but just faded away (like the ATA reported) :arghh:

Our voices need to be heard.

I would like to work on and submit my story and my friend Dave's story. It is a brutal read so I am hesitant.

Hey folks,

We had a few people expressing interest but so far no submissions!

We sadly won't be able to raise any awareness if we don't get your stories :(

Let your voice be heard!!!

If there's anybody out there that would like to share their story on a video that we can publish during the Tinnitus Week, that would also be very good - videos tend to have more impact than text when shared on social media etc.

But text stories work as well. :)

I'll write something up, I'll message you before the deadline. It's takes me a while to articulate what I need to say due to this haze I'm still in.

I'll write one up!

Great! Good luck, and let us know if you need any help :)

Perfect. I know, it's not easy to write your experience down in a well articulated way that appeals to others. Let me know if you need any help!

@Markku @Hazel I will do a video.

That's perfect! As Markku pointed out, videos tend to be most impactful. And I'm sure you'll do a great job :)
