Just over a year ago, I experienced a major cardiothoracic event and came dangerously close to leaving this world. For the past 10 years, I have endured extreme tinnitus, but it pales in comparison to the excruciating pain of an aortic aneurysm and a complete aortic dissection.
I underwent a 10-hour open-heart surgery during which all my vital functions were managed by a machine. My heart was stopped, my brain was cooled, and my lungs were collapsed. Clinically, I was gone. Yet, the medical team saved my life, and here I am today.
Since then, I have reflected on my survival odds. Let's just say I believe my chances of finding a cure for tinnitus were greater than surviving that surgery.
Goodbye, everyone. God bless.
