Does anyone have two different types of metal in your mouth.

Metal are often in implants, metal liners inside crowns, dentures, bridges, amalgams like silver fillings, appliances, metal wires, etc.

There are several reports saying that having two types of metal in mouth causes tinnitus.

Some of these reports are coming from dentists.

One report says those who already have tinnitus, it can make it worse.

@Greg Sacramento
Do you have some links to these reports? I'd be interested to read.
I have three amalgam fillings, all have minor cracks and I'm having these replaced one at a time over the next 3 months.
I have read about some links between the mercury in amalgams and tinnitus - I doubt it's what is causing mine, but the fillings need to be replaced anyway as they are cracking.
I've felt rather uncomfortable since doing some reading on amalgam fillings that may leak mercury for reasons other than (and including) my tinnitus.

Yes, there's a lot on mercury fillings and tinnitus. I will research for the articles again under different types of metal in mouth causing tinnitus. I will get back to you.

Place this into your search: So many articles

1. Is There a Battery in your Mouth

2. Is There a Battery in your Mouth Tinnitus

Some articles state that when the metal is removed tinnitus disappears, but I think that is only for those that don't know what caused their tinnitus.

I wonder if my new titanium implant reacts with the metal linings in my crowns. The crowns are worn a bit on the gum line and I can see metal. I walked out of the dentist office with a new form of tinnitus - very high pitched.

Please us know when your mercury amalgams are replaced if your tinnitus at least lessons. - as you show cause of tinnitus unknown. There's also dentists talking about metal in your mouth and tinnitus - 3 articles. I need to find them.

Hi, it has been 3 months :) I hope you are doing well. Did you notice a difference in your tinnitus once you got the amalgams removed?

Hi @JasonP ! How are you going these days? I do hope you are well.

I can't believe it's been three months!
So, I've had 2 out of 3 amalgams removed.... the biggest one is coming out on the 7th of this month.

Firstly, tinnitus OK, no worsening from the dental work which was my biggest fear.
First amalgam was the smallest and so quick! Only around 30 seconds of drilling.
Second one took longer, and I was a bit agitated due to the drilling. I survived, but put the third off for 6 weeks. It's the biggest and will require a lot of drilling.

No change in my tinnitus thus far, but obviously not quite amalgam free yet.
I plan to do a mercury detox after this third one is gone.

So I promise to keep you updated! At the very least, I had to get this poison out of my body. Feel better and my mouth looks better with out the unsightly fillings in my mouth.

@JasonP Hi Jason, thanks for remembering.

The articles that I found where under - Is there a battery in your mouth. There's one dentist that has an article under this topic who believes that she has a battery in her mouth. I still have all the metal including implant, metal linings in crowns and a few amalgam filings.

It may not be connected to my tinnitus, because when having the implant placed I was bending my neck forward, which gives sound a roadway thru veins to your ears. The dentist was drilling bone in my jaw. I think that I got like whiplash with the pressure on my jaw and neck - as my neck hurts.

Thanks so much! I had a rough couple of days (very long story). I am glad you are getting the mercury removed and so glad you responded so quickly! I hope your tinnitus will decrease. :) :)

Hi @Samantha R

I wish I could say I remembered but I didn't remember the exact date. I remembered reading this post a while back and just looked it up and saw that it had been three months. :)

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your posts here, which I think are important. Thought I'd bump this post up by quoting a couple of paragraphs from your above linked article...

Patient Success Story:

"I had been experiencing tinnitus for about 3-4 years. It concerned me as it was getting louder as time went on. I had an earwax problem at that time and thought ear cleaning would also help with the tinnitus but it did not. I started having my amalgam fillings removed quadrant by quadrant. It wasn't until the last quadrant of mercury fillings were removed that I noticed any changes in the tinnitus. Days later, I was just about ready to doze off to sleep when I realized there was no ringing in my ear, just beautiful silence."

During this patient's clinical evaluation, it was noted that her galvanic (electrical) current was much higher than normal in several of her mercury fillings. Simply reducing the galvanic current(s) by replacing the mercury fillings with tooth colored restorations made all the difference in the world for this patient. (Visit our website article entitled, Is There a Battery in Your Mouth?)

Careful with the amalgam replacement....if the dentist does not specialize in amalgam replacement it can cause more harm than good, as they need to use lot of suction throughout this procedure.

Basically what the regular dentist will do is to drill out the amalgam, but you will be inhaling the amalgam dust as he's drilling it away...this will cause you more harm than leaving it in...

Not to mention if you swallow at any point during this procedure, you are now swallowing the already disturbed amalgam dust.

Bumping this thread up for those who have yet to consider a possible connection between tinnitus and amalgams in the mouth.
