Hello all, So I just started wearing a mouthguard I got from the Dentist for about 3 nights now. It's only been a few days but my tinnitus seems to have gone down a tad. Long story short, I've been hearing a high pitch for about 2 years now after taking an ototoxic medication (Sildenafil aka Viagra). There is also a low pitched hum that I am pretty positive has to do with my Eustachian tube.
I've been a heavy drinker ever since I was in college, about 15 years now. So right now I am cutting alcohol, and so far I've severally reduced my binging for about 3 weeks now, basically only drinking 10 drinks over the weekend. Believe it or not this is a reduction in my drinking by alot, and I plan on cutting drinking completely this weekend. The cut in alcohol alone has reduced my low pitched tinnitus hum dramatically, and it is def the most irritating of the two.
Again the high pitched tinnitus is overall affected by drinking, smoking, but I believe this mouthguard is starting to help out in the last 3 nights I've worn it. I'll check back and give updates as to whether the tinnitus is getting better.
