I've had tinnitus since 2019. There is a high-pitched hum, around 7500 Hz, in my left ear most of the time. I've acclimated to it and can live with it. However, what is much harder to deal with is the "crackling" or clicking noise in my right ear.
About a week and a half ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and slammed my foot or toe into my shower door during a lucid dreaming episode, which was not fun. Since then, and especially after becoming more sedentary over the holidays, the severity of my tinnitus has spiked dramatically.
I am hoping it will fade once I can start walking 7000 or more steps a day and working out again. Lately, the clicking noise has reached an intensity of 9 out of 10 during some periods. It ranges from a slow, consistent click…click…click to rapid, machine gun like successions that can last upwards of 30 seconds. It is incredibly aggravating.
I am sleeping whenever I can, but this is not a functional state of being, especially during late night hours, sometimes from 7 PM to 3 AM. I am just hoping it returns to normal once my foot heals and I can get back to being active. This is the worst flare up I have experienced in a really, really long time, after having mostly acclimated to it in my left side back in 2019.
