Cause of Tinnitus
Gunshot Exposure
It's my second week with tinnitus after loud noise exposure. Started with clogged right ear and tone in right ear. Mostly I can hear it at night only.

Few days ago I woke up at night with loud hissing noise in both ears. I put on music and it calmed it a bit. But now every day I hear this hissing even during the day.

At first I thought perhaps something in the house is making that noise but then I realized it's in my ears. The tone is still there in right ear, didn't get better or worse.

However, clogginess in right ear got better. Somedays I don't feel it at all.

I have a complicated and stressful project at work, but I never really feel stress. Doesn't make me pull out my hair or anything.

I feel that I internalize my stress and eventually it does have impact on my health and my T. I started taking long walks daily, do some meditation, drink chamomile at night, and drinking some valerian root extract which supposed to help with stress.

Tinnitus is a horrible thing, you are at the beginning stage and your tinnitus might not be super loud. I suggest that you protect your ears and try not to make your tinnitus worst. LOUD music/places can make the ringing much louder and more horrible...

I stay away from noises made by the vacuum cleaner, blender, etc.

A hiss is easier to ignore compared to a high pitch tone. It is also what people might experience after months of healing (as their high pitch tone switches to a hiss). So it sounds like you haven't hurt your ears Too much. Protect your ears and wait, and chances are in a couple of months you will see improvement or even hear silence.

Thank u, thats good to hear. Righr ear still has tone which stayed the same so far. I can only hear it when its very quiet. Went to loud restaurant yesterday and had cotton balls in my ears. Glad i did. I do experience occasional very light dizziness. I cannot figure out if its ears, bad sleep, or anxiety

This forum is filled with stories of people getting spikes (possibly permanent) after visiting loud places and Wearing Earplugs. I recommend not going to loud restaurants during the next year or two.

Your T sounds like it's quite mild ( I know. it still sucks) and IMO will resolve itself over the next few months. I doubt it's anything that's permanent. I know if you read a lot of posts here you will get the idea that nobody's T ever goes away, when the opposite is true. The vast majority of noise induced T fades away in 6-18 months.

Thanks for that. I am big hypochondriac when it comes to new health issues, but I am trying to stay positive. My wife is a nurse and she says most men are like this.

Thanks, its hard to change lifestyle, especially when u have family. But cotton balls are now regular accessory

Do yourself a favor and buy some High Fidelity ear plugs. They are usually clear and are not noticeable in your ear. You can find the on Amazon for around $15 bucks. Cotton balls are useless. You must take your T serious and protect your ears from loud places for a while or it may get worse and maybe even permanent. That will be a life changer.
