Hello fellow members,

I got an acoustic trauma from a concert 6 months ago and the first 4-5 months were hell.

This last month I have been coping better and starting to see hope for the future. Ironically, I have been on 3 rounds of antibiotics the last 14 days due to tooth infection and then 2 urinary infections.

Yesterday, my tinnitus increased massively in volume for the first time since onset and I have been panicking since. After it increased I got the urinary infection for which I got antibiotics (again) this morning. Tinnitus is still VERY loud now since yesterday.

Has anybody been through something similar? Can the infection in my body cause my tinnitus to increase? Will it calm down or can it be permanent?

Sincerely,
Scared tinnitus sufferer

Can the infection in my body cause my tinnitus to increase?

@magiccat -- The short answer is yes, infections can cause or exacerbate tinnitus. I myself do a number of "natural" things to keep the pathogenic load in my body down, and prevent things like sinus infections. For sinus infections, I would consider nebulizing any number of substances, including iodine. I've posted fairly often on treating sinus conditions naturally, so you could do a search for sinus under my username if you wanted to follow up.

Other chronic infections like Candida and Lyme (which few doctors know how to diagnose and treat properly) have also been known to cause tinnitus. Mold infections can be a problem as well. That's why I try to do "general maintenance" on a regular basis to keep these kinds of infections in check as well as possible. -- I hope you're doing better since you first posted!
