- Cause of Tinnitus
- Medication ( I think)
Hi I'm new, just wanted to say hello.
I've had tinnitus for the past three months now. I think I got it from antibiotics I took for an ear infection, I'm not 100% sure though as I've been on and off different medications in the past few months for depression and I only now noticed that the majority of them have tinnitus as a side effect.
I've had the occasional ringing in my ears for years but it always stopped. Now I hear a constant humming sound (a bit like something electrical is right next to me), also I still get the ringing occasionally as well as a whooshing sound & sometimes I can hear my heartbeat. So I get many sounds but the constant one is the humming.
I was panicking when I first got it but my GP reassured me that it would go away eventually ( I think she assumed it was the antibiotics as did I)
3 months later I'm pretty sure it's permanent.
Just wondering how people cope with it? It's not so much the sound that bothers me but that I feel like my whole body is constantly vibrating.
When I told my doctor this she just changed my anti depressant again, I've been on four different antidepressants in the past few months and it's really starting to get me down.
