New, Really High-Pitched Sound I'm Hearing

I woke up to this really, really high pitched sound in my ear. I've never had it at this high a pitch. I seriously don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Please try stay calm and over the next 48 hours should start to settle down unless you have got a cold or infection brewing.
Also protect your ears from the winter weather as can spike tinnitus for some people.

Thank you so much. I went back to sleep after hearing that sound, don't know how long I stayed up for. Now the sound is gone, hopefully for good. I don't know if that was fleeting T, or a spike as I've never had a spike. What does a spike usually do? And what usually causes it?

A spike in sound can come out of the blue but usually short lived .
A cold,virus,stess,sinus problem and cold weather and loud sounds are the main ones that cause a spike and more reasons that cause Tinnitus to start.
